Family Ice Skating in Oxnard

October 7^th - Sunday, 12pm Lunch (Open Skate 1pm to 5pm) - Bring a bag lunch, and your warm clothes, socks, and gloves!  Cost is $7.50 and includes skate rental.  There is no charge for chickens, er, I mean spectators.  If there are more than 15 of us, the price is discounted - so bring your friends!  We will meet after the second service to enjoy our lunch in the sun before we head to the frigid arctic.  Just kidding, it's not really that cold.   ;-)  Anyone interested in carpooling please contact me and I'll help arrange the rides.  I will have map directions available.  For more information, check out:  www.oxnardice.com

Parish Night with Jim Bultema

October 14th - Sunday, 5:30pm - Jim will be presenting an update of his work in the field.  With everything that has happened in the area recently, it will no doubt be a very timely and important presentation for youth and adults.  Younger children are invited to come to a special program in another room during this time, and there will also be nursery care.  So bring the whole family for fun, fellowship, and engaging information!  Please RSVP at our Parent's Corner.

Infant and Toddler Family Picnic

October 20^th - Saturday, 11am to 1pm - Look for your invitation in the mail!  This is a chance for families of children 0 - 3 yrs to get together for fellowship and commiserating.  Have you slept lately?  Yeah, me neither.  But we love our kids!  The picnic will take place at the Eglin Homestead - directly behind the church.  Younger children can lounge in the backyard while the slightly older set can romp around the playground.  Last names starting with A - M please bring a toddler friendly food (we are all open to suggestions!) and N - Z please bring a picnic dish you enjoy.  For the sake of those with nut/peanut and egg allergies (including mayo, dressings, potato salad etc.) please check for these ingredients so that we can avoid unexpected and unpleasant reactions.  Please RSVP to Missi Vandever or Sarah Eglin at 805-453-7134. 

5^th and 6^th Grade Sleepover 

November 2^nd and 3^rd - Friday, 6pm to Saturday, 11am - Focus will be on holding on to our faith in God in tough situations, getting to know the church, and getting to know each other! Games and activities provided by the Sr. High Youth Group, and a campfire (weather permitting)!  Includes dinner, breakfast, and maybe a snack or two.  :-)  Parents/Adults interested in helping out with a portion of this event?  Contact Sarah.   Please RSVP at the Parent's Corner RSVP Message Board.

Bring a Friend to Church Sunday

November 4th - Sunday, 9am - Time to show our friends how God's love lives in us.   Bring a special friend who has never been to church before, bring a friend you've brought before, bring friends who have Jesus in their hearts and want to come rejoice with us today!  Each child who brings a friend this Sunday will get five extra Bible Bucks - and so will your friend!  We will have 1st Sunday Sing with the Bertlings, and then a special treat before we gather in our classrooms to gain new wisdom about following God's word.

November 18th - Sunday 1pm to 4pm - This was so much fun, everyone wants to go again!  Join us this Sunday at the Oxnard Ice Rink for a fabulous ice experience.  If we have more than 15 people, the price is discounted from $10 to $7.50 per person. Advent Wreath Making

December 2^nd - 9am Sunday School Hour - Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for our 1^st Sunday Sing, followed by wreath-making and refreshments.  Time for us to get together and prepare our hearts for the Christmas Season.

Advent Parish Night  

December 9^th - Sunday, 5:30pm - Dinner, Ornament Making and a Musical Program with all of the Sunday School children and Sanctuary Choir singing together.  This is going to be a fantastic evening!  All children will be learning the group songs in 1st Sunday Sing. I am officially beginning my search for any child interested in solos and speaking parts!  There are also opportunities for small groups to sing together.  Please contact me as soon as you've checked the date - rehearsals will start soon!  Interested in helping with costumes, scenery, or rehearsals?  Look for our "How Can I Help?" page, coming soon!

Christmas Caroling w/ the Sanctuary Choir

December 16^th - Sunday, 11:45am to 2:30pm - Anyone is welcome to join us in singing for members of our congregation who are not able to get out and enjoy the Advent season.  This is a special time for many and we invite you to be a part of it.  We will meet after the second service - bring a bag lunch and a change of clothes if you wish.  Dress ranged from festive to frilly last year!  I will have routes mapped out, and will organize carpooling as much as possible.  Anyone interested, please RSVP either by phone (969-5041 ext. 237) or email (sarah@elmopres.org).   I would especially love to know ahead of time if you are able to drive others!

Other Events Coming Up: 

Family Hikes - Easy to moderate nature walks - let's get out while the weather is still good!  I'm looking for good times for families to hike... Friday evenings?  Saturday mornings?  Any suggestions?  Add to our Suggestion Box at the Parent's Corner!

Salt Shaker Dinners - Reunion and Fellowship time with your Church Family.  A chance to meet and eat with some of those families you pass in the hall and haven't had a chance to get to know yet.  These will be monthly potluck dinners starting in January.

Valentine Chocolate Making
February 9^th – Saturday, 10:30 – 11:30am - 1^st Sunday Sing Room – It just tastes better when you make it yourself!  This is an easy and fun process suitable for age 3 – adult!  Wear “play clothes” or bring an apron.  RSVP to Sarah Eglin.

Salt Shaker Dinner
February 10^th – Sunday evening – 1^st Salt Shaker Dinner – All families are encouraged to participate in this community building series of Sunday dinners. Sign up on the Children’s Ministry bulletin board on the patio or in the Sunday School wing starting January 6^th.  Questions?  Contact Katherine Farhadian!

5^th and 6^th Graders Serve Coffee and Donuts
February 11th – 5^th and 6^th graders will serve donuts, coffee and chocolate on the patio after both services. Meet and greet the congregation!
